Elementary school teacher who, since 2020, holds a PhD grant from FCT (the Portuguese national funding agency for science, research and technology) at the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto-Douro, with CIDTFF-UA (Research Centre in Didactics and Technologies in Teacher Training at the University of Aveiro) as her host institution. She is now researching how a socioscientific issues learning approach informed by biological evolution contributes to elementary students’ literacy on sustainability. Since 2018, she has been a member of the Formal Education Working Group in EuroScitizen Cost Action, where she analysed the presence of evolution concepts in Portuguese curricula and where she is participating in the development of an instrument to assess scientific literacy about evolution in elementary school students. She is also responsible for the social networks strategy of this Cost Action. Since 2021, she is a team member of the BiblioLab ILC project – Citizen learning communities for the promotion of interdisciplinary education in science and literature.
